Are you too old for lolita...?

Are you too old for lolita...?
I was visitting my parents a while ago. My mom wanted to show her Instagram, because she made an account, but doesn't know how to use it. She happened to come across my photos.
She said, pointing at a lolita blouse I bought recently:
- What is it?
- Umm, a lolita blouse I bought.
- Och my, you're still into this? You're almost 26!
It wasn't the first time she pointed this out and it wasn't the first I explained this is a hobby as appropriate as any.
Funny thing is she used to be very supportive when I was a teenager. But guess what? Even Bodyline seemed unattainable. I was a teenager, I had nearly no income. I depended on thrift stores, buying second hand things online and my mom's sewing skills (she sewed some clothes for me back then, she stopped doing so)

So the question is: can you be too old for lolita? For any fashion or hobby?

Of course not. However you can be too young in my opinion.
Most of lolitas nowadays are in their mid-twenties. It seems like this fashion grows with us.

I think this is the best time to get into lolita more seriously. This is a luxury fashion and even the cheapest options for shopping are still quite expensive compared to casual fashion. And almost no one in their teens has a stable income. Relying on gifts seems unreasonable.

However lolita fashion is considered cute and even childlish for strangers. And not only sweet lolitas seem so, gothic and classic too. Someone who is not familiar with the fashion doesn't notice much difference.

Is there an age limit to cuteness?

I used to think so. I used to think that when I hit my thirties, I would ditch the alternative fashion to wear something more simple. But as I am closer, I change my mind.
Our society puts much pressure on looking and acting "serious" at certain age. But does fondness of cuteness influence one's responsibility or professional skills? Well, it's hard to argue - no.

Not to mention that childlish attire is something rather fresh. Centuries ago children just wore smaller versions of adult's clothing. There was no children's motifs or themes. All in all those are just pictures. It's us who put any meaning into it.

Will I ever lose interest in lolita? I don't know, maybe. But probably not because of my age. Even when I imagine myself as a granny in some classic lolita dress, it looks pretty and cute, not funny. Maybe I am just biased, because I encircle myself with this fashion for years. At the same time other people may be biased too, because they're told it's not proper for an old person to dress in a cute way.

Do you know @baddiewinkle? She's such an inpiration! I wish I would have her attitude at the same age ♥

In conclusion: there's no such thing as too old! Enjoy the fashion 💕

I am attaching a drawing I made today:

I need to practice my digital art skills 😭 but at least I made something.

2017 Lolita Wardrobe post ♥

2017 Lolita Wardrobe post ♥
As most of lolitas all over the world - I am making a wardrobe post. It is an event that takes place in January each year. This is going to be my first one. I decided to do it mostly to see how much progress I will have made next year. When I closed my blog in 2013, I had stopped collecting lolita clothes. I have started buying things since 2016's fall again, so this is going to be the time my wardrobe finally may enlarge!

So let's see my base for development! 💝

One piece dresses:

Mystery Garden/Astral Lantern

My most precious piece ✨ It is inspired by some brand pieces, but overall design is mine.

Mystery Garden/Astral Lantern

Yep, it is a Mary Magdalene replica. Honetly I love it and don't regret having it, but I wouldn't order a replica once again. I never hide the fact that it is a replica, but the quality is so good it could be mistaken with an original one.

Bodyline L362

A versatile black one-piece.

Mystery Garden/Astral Lantern

Perfect for classic lolita look or toned-down sweet.

Souffle Song

The newest dress in my wardrobe. I bought it second-hand for half the price, even though seller stated it was never worn - and probably never was, because the condition is perfect 💖

Bodyline L322

Very cute Bodyline dress that is perfect for more casual looks.

Bodyline L562

I love cats - so I had to get it especially when prices were so low on Bodyline's sale.

Bodyline Fairy in the forest

It is an older piece, which is not available on the site anymore. It was one of my first lolita pieces! I still love it, although I mostly wear it with some casual clothes in the summer.

This one is also not available in the store anymore. It is a lovely hime-ish piece!

Blouses & cutsews:

Bodyline L373

Very cute blouse, although it is a pain to iron it and lace on the sleeves is a bit scratchy.

I really love this one, even though lace is kind of cheap. It is not that noticable luckily.

I got this one recently off Glitzy Wonderland and it's really lovely 💕 I need to get more pieces with princess sleeves!

The details of the neckline are super cute ♥

This one is not essentialy lolita, but it can make coordinate more interesting in my opinion.

Boleros & cardigans:

It is cute, yet I have never worn it.

I like wearing some cute pumps with lolita.

Sadly the heart bag is not an original BTSSB, I got it second hand a few years ago.

Everything is offbrand or handmade

I haven't shown my legwear, because I mostly wear some offbrand tights and it would be difficult to show them well.

My wardrobe goals for this year are:

- more tops overall, both blouses and cardigans/boleros
- more pieces that would be suitable for daily wear
- more dark and rich colors
- getting black lolita flats
- getting a black classic bag
- less bodyline and more taobao
- maybe getting my first brand piece*

*I wonder if it is even worth it to be honest. I am not willing to spend more than 100-120$ on a piece (shipping included). For that price I could get some second hand brand pieces, but they are mostly rather basic designs. However taobao brands have some really beautiful designs which are easy to fell in love with for the price mentioned. So I am really leaning towards those indie brands. But we'll see!

Happy New Year 2017! 🎉

Happy New Year 2017! 🎉
After 3 years I have decided to go back to blogging. I had to delete all the previous posts what really saddens me. I had to, because some time ago, when I was inactive, I was annoyed that all photos from my blog appear on Google+, even when blog is set to private. I don't use Google+, but I accidentally created the account and it is connected to my mail. It was kind of bothersome. But now when I am back to blogging, it's not a problem, because the blog is public again.

I hope to be more active than I used to be back then. Mostly because I can finally fully indulge in a hobby of mine, which is lolita fashion. Last year I have left my university to get a job and it was the best decision of 2016. It's so good and comforting to finally have a full-time job, that I enjoy and it allows me to be fully independent!

Also many people complain about 2016, but honestly it was one of the best, if not the best year of my life. My life has become stable and safe, yet so full of fun and adventures.

To make a fresh start, I would like to share my favourite photos of 2016 💕

Most of them are shot by my boyfriend :)

What am I going to post next? Probably my lolita wardrobe 💖

Happy 2017!
